Established in 1992 in Genoa, Trumpy Tours provides shore services and excursions for cruise ships.
Trumpy Tours' offerings are broad and comprehensive, including organized excursions, Meet & Greet shore services, customized tours and more.
Trumpy Tours is constantly exploring new opportunities with a commitment to promote sustainability through best practices to maximize positive impacts and reduce negative ones in the area of social and environmental promotion with the help of customers and partners.
Our sustainability policy consists of 9 points. Principles and related goals are identified for each point.
1. Sustainability management and legal compliance
We are committed to sustainability management through the following actions:
our internal Sustainability Coordinator will work to update and publish our Sustainability Policy.
The company's commitment aims to reduce social, cultural and economic impacts while ensuring the welfare and health of workers and employees.
Periodically, the work and goals achieved will be subject to internal evaluation resulting in corrective measures, additions and if necessary changes.
Our action will be on various points and always in compliance with National norms and Labor Contracts.
2. Internal management: social policy and human rights
We strive for sustainable internal management by having a clear and widespread social policy based on the following principles:
- To guarantee the rights of freedom, health and safety to all workers without discrimination and to guarantee working conditions and wages according to labor law and in the application of the National Labor Agreement;
- Create opportunities for students and youth to participate in internships/internships/apprenticeships.
3. Internal management: environment and community relations
We are committed to practicing environmental protection and improving community relations by ensuring the implementation of Good Practices to : Actively reduce the use of disposable and consumer goods; favor packaging-poor goods and services; reduce paper consumption through increased digitization; reduce pollution from chemicals such as soaps and cleaning detergents; calculate and offset CO2 emissions and compare different periods; prefer energy-efficient equipment when purchasing new items, including cost and quality considerations; have an active policy to reduce water consumption, implemented and monitored on a basis. Our commitment will be constant in complying with current laws on waste disposal and recycling of various materials.
We will contribute to the protection and preservation of local properties and sites of historical, archaeological, cultural and spiritual importance and will not prevent access to them by local residents; through informed visits that aim at its preservation and conservation.
4. TrumpyTours & Partner Agency
Trumpy Tours together with its Partners is committed to a transformation of tourism offerings with the intention of promoting environmental sustainability, for this reason it is engaged in the creation and certification of a sustainable system in compliance with the requirements of Travelife.
With this choice Trumpy Tours and its Partners are committed to the utmost compliance with all sustainability rules regarding: child exploitation, forced labor, health and safety, freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining (CNL), against all discrimination, disciplinary positions, working hours and wages, and respect for the environment. This standard also involves the activities of our Partners with the intent to expand and involve correct behaviors in order to improve sustainability standards.
5. Transportation
Trumpy Tours seeks to ensure that the vehicles used on tours allow for the least amount of pollution, based on available resources. That they meet the legal requirements for pollution. We believe that transportation is an important aspect of sustainable tourism and do our best to reduce pollution.
6. Excursions and activities
We believe it is essential that excursions leave the least environmental impact on the area and enhance local culture and art.
We are committed to achieving this goal through the following actions:
- Evaluate environmentally or culturally sensitive spots, inform guests of how to behave during excursions, with emphasis on respect for culture, nature and the environment. The involvement of our Providers will be guaranteed and essential. Do not offer excursions that harm humans, fauna and flora;
- Have qualified guides to guide our guests to sensitive cultural sites, heritage sites, or ecologically sensitive destinations;
- Promote excursions and activities that directly involve and support local communities by purchasing services or goods, traditional handicrafts and local (food) production methods, or visiting social projects;
- Promote excursions and activities that support the local environment and biodiversity such as visiting protected areas or environmental protection projects.
7. Tour leaders and guides
We commit ourselves to:
- Create a fair and safe working environment that supports and respects local people and workers who are hired for excursions such as guides, hostesses, escorts;
- Employees will have written, clear and understandable terms and conditions of employment and will be informed of and involved in relevant aspects of our sustainability policy and comply with it, either through newsletters, e-mails or training and information sessions;
- Train in environmental matters through our Coordinators the tour guides and tour leaders to arrive at having a Team adequately prepared to manage our Guests and group needs and dynamics , regarding eco-sustainability , identifying guidelines and appropriate behavior at sensitive points.
8. Destination
We strive to maximize the positive impacts and minimize the negative impacts of excursions to ensure the sustainable development of the places where we operate.
We are committed to achieving this goal through the following actions:
- Consider sustainability aspects in the process of selecting new destinations and possibly offer alternative destinations;
- Do not select destinations where tourism leads to negative local structural effects;
- Consider selecting new destinations, which are reachable through more sustainable means of transportation;
- Comply with law-based land use planning, protected areas, and heritage regulations.
- Support initiatives that improve relationships between accommodations and local producers;
- Influence and support local government on sustainability, destination planning and management, natural resource use, and socio-cultural issues;
- Support biodiversity conservation, including protected areas and areas of high biodiversity, through financial contribution and integration into product offerings;
- Do not promote souvenirs that contain threatened species of flora and fauna as listed in the CITES treaty and the IUCN "Red List"; or historical and archaeological artifacts (except as permitted by law).
9. Communication and customer protection
Customer welfare and information are very important to us. We are committed to clear and consistent communication and high protection to our customers, we will protect their privacy, and we are committed and will continue our commitment to clarity of information rendered on products, prices, and safety and environmental policies. We are committed to informing the Companies about the environmental impact of different transportation options to reach the destination (where these are not included in the package) and offer sustainable alternatives where available.
During the course of the excursions, we commit ourselves to:
- Provide information to guests about the natural environment, local culture and cultural heritage in the tourist destination;
- Inform guests about key sustainability aspects and issues in the destination and provide recommendations on how to make a positive contribution;
- Inform guests about risks and precautions related to health and safety issues in the destination;
- Maintain a contact person and phone number permanently available for emergency situations;
- Train staff and keep guidelines available on how to deal with emergency situations;
- Provide guests with documented guidelines and/or codes of conduct for sensitive excursions and activities to minimize negative visitor impact and maximize enjoyment;
- Monitor periodically with the Principal Company the quality of service rendered, through a scoring evaluation. Our principals will evaluate our performance and that of our employees, suppliers and partners through questionnaires distributed to cruise ship Guests;
- Procedures for handling a complaint are always handled through the Principal, Trumpy Tours undertakes to investigate the reason for the complaint, provide explanations and any economic compensation, again through the Principal.
