The Port of Bari (abbreviated BRI) is a maritime facility located at the city of Bari, Puglia; its traffic is mainly to the Balkan Peninsula and the Middle East. In 2018 it handled just over 1 million ferry passengers and about 573,000 cruise passengers. The historic port is located to the south and is also predominantly commercial in function. The northern part consists of the St. Anthony Pier, and the southernmost part consists of the St. Nicholas Pier. The seabed in this harbor area is just over 2.5 meters deep. The harbor has 2 quays used for fishing, 350 and 180 m with 180 berths, respectively. he new harbor, mainly for commercial purposes, is composed of a large outer breakwater to the east and the San Cataldo pier to the west. There are five docks within the port area: Bacino Grande, Darsena di Ponente, Darsena di Levante, Darsena Vecchia and Darsena Interna. The harbor is open to the NNW and is exposed to tramontana and mistral winds. The seabed ranges from 3 to 12 m and allows the berthing of both commercial and passenger ships of the size of more than 300 meters in length.
