Naples
The port of Naples is one of the most important ports in Europe; it occupies the northernmost natural inlet of the Gulf of Naples and stretches about 12 km from the center of the city to its eastern part.
In 2015 it ranked 12th among the busiest European ports by number of passengers, while 2017 figures put it 35th in the world for tourist cruises. In 2023 it ranked 5th among the busiest European ports by number of passengers.
In 2019, the port port of call confirmed its third position in Italy (after Civitavecchia and Venice) for cruise traffic, counting about 1.4 million passengers with 475 ship calls.
Since 2016, management of the port has been the responsibility of the Port System Authority of the Central Tyrrhenian Sea, replacing the former Port Authority of Naples.
